About your photographer

Daughter, sister, partner and besotted mother to my mermaid daughters, Bay and Tide. These are the roles I take most seriously. All the other passions, hobbies and enjoyments are an added bonus!

My photography journey started on 35mm film, I have always loved the camera from as way back as I can remember.
In 2006, while working my way through university, I took a night school class in darkroom photography at Ruth Prowse Art School. It was here that I fell deeply in love with the art. In my final year at the University of Cape Town, I took a Photojournalism class where suddenly it all clicked into place.
I went on to further my education in 2010, at VEGA Brand Communications College, with a higher certificate in photography and after an intense year covering almost every angle of the field, I finally knew this was it for me.
I don’t believe you ever stop learning and am a firm believer in educating yourself. I often take courses and workshops, be it in photography or another form of art I feel compelled to dive into for my own creative sanity.

Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a wide variety of projects, spanning many genre’s, which allowed me to meet the most incredibly supportive group of peers, whom I’ve worked with, learnt from and been inspired by.

In 2014, I launched my first series of fine art prints at the Francoise V Fine Art Photography Gallery. It was a massive learning curve learning to fine tune my eye for archival printing and professional framing; it changed the way I shoot.

Fast forward past my daughters’ births in 2017 and 2021, a whirlwind of magic, laughter and buckets of tears, and here we are. After all these years in the industry, in all the roles I’ve played, all the shoots I’ve covered, I always come back to kids. My own mother called it way back when I started and she was right! This is the genre that suits my eye best and feeds my soul.
